Gotze set for Dortmund return

Bayern Munich have confirmed they are in talks over a move that will see Mario Gotze return to Borussia Dortmund.

The 24-year-old had declared his intent to stay at Bayern earlier this summer, but has been told that he has no future at the Allianz Arena - three years after his £30million move to the Bavarians from BVB.

Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed talks between the two German giants.

There have also been talks with his agent, but the deal is not done just yet. Both clubs will have to reach an agreement over a transfer fee first.

Gotze has been at Bayern for three years and it did not work out for him.

I am not surprised that Gotze wants to leave. He is 24 years old and needs to play regularly.

A five-year contract is believed to be on offer to the midfielder - who will effectively replace Manchester United new boy Henrikh Mkhitaryan - with Bayern looking for a fee in the region of £23million.
