Atletico Madrid sign Diogo Jota from Pacos de Ferreira

Diogo Jota (middle) scored 14 goals for Pacos de Ferreira last campaign.

Atletico Madrid have signed 19-year-old winger Diogo Jota to a five-year contract, the club have announced.

Jota, whose full name is Diogo Jose Teixeira Silva, moves to the club from Pacos de Ferreira in Portugal.

The Portugal under-21 international scored 14 goals and provided 10 assists in all competitions last term, helping Pacos de Ferreira to seventh place.

"He is a young player, very fast and vertical, carries the ball very well and has a great outrun," Atletico sporting director Jose Luis Perez Caminero said of the move.

"Diogo has a great projection and stands out for his one-on-one and his versatility, because he can play in several positions." 

Diogo is scheduled to begin training with Los Rojiblancos on Thursday, July 7.
