City closing in on £20million Gundogan
Manchester City are closing in on a £20million deal for Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan.
Gundogan will become the first signing under new City boss Pep Guardiola - despite being out with a dislocated knee.
The Germany international will miss Euro 2016 after suffering the injury, which was initially feared to sideline him for five months.
But a revised diagnosis has suggested Gundogan, 25, could return to action by the end of August, just two weeks into the new season.
City are hoping to tie up a deal for Gundogan in the next few days, before moving on to other targets including Everton’s John Stones, with local rivals Manchester United also in the race for him.

Ryan Mason a £4million target for Crystal Palace
Ryan Mason is a £4million target for Crystal Palace – with the Tottenham midfielder heading for the exit door.
Palace boss Alan Pardew is keen to sign the 24-year-old England man, who has been deemed surplus to requirements by Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Spurs are offering Mason as a makeweight in potential swap deals, including a move for Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson.
But Mason, a home-grown Spurs player with four years left on his White Hart Lane deal, will only agree to move to the right club.
And FA Cup finalists Palace could prove an attractive option – although Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is said to value the player at closer to £8million.

Wolves fighting losing battle for Hibs star Cummings
Wolves are continuing to eye Hibernian striker Jason Cummings, the striker who scored 25 goals in 49 appearances for the Scottish Cup winners this season.
However, they face a fight to prise him away from Easter Road.
The 20-year-old shone for Hibs during the season, and Rangers boss Mark Warburton is also interested in taking him to Ibrox this summer.
But Hibs can now offer European football and Cummings has indicated that he is keen to remain for the final year of his deal.
That leaves Hibs in a catch 22 situation, needing to decide whether to cash in now or risk losing him for a nominal fee in 12 months time.
Wolves, where finances are tight this summer with no more parachute payments and with the club up for sale, had hoped to play on the latter factor to take Cummings to Molineux this summer, as they eye striking reinforcements.
Liverpool join race for £10million-rated starlet Reece Oxford
Liverpool have joined the race to sign West Ham’s teenage talent Reece Oxford.
The Merseysiders failed with an ambitious attempt to snatch the 17-year-old away from the Hammers last summer before he had even made his senior debut.
But they are back in the hunt after being made aware that Oxford is available for around £10million after rejecting West Ham’s offer of a new contract.
The Reds face stiff competition from both Manchester clubs. But Jurgen Klopp is hoping that his reputation for putting his trust in young players will persuade Oxford to opt for Anfield.
Oxford’s versatility - he can play centre-back or as a defensive midfielder - is a big plus for Klopp as he looks to strengthen his Liverpool squad.
The player is looking to get his future sorted before he reports for England Under-19 duty next week.
Aidy Boothroyd’s young Lions are embarking on a two-game trip to Mexico as they prepare for next month’s junior Euros in Germany.
One that may interest Liverpool fans
Over in Germany, FC Koln have earlier today completed the signing of a new leftback - Darmstadt’s Konstantin Rausch.
He has joined on a permanent deal - which is news that may well interest Liverpool fans.
That’s because he has been signed as a replacement for club captain Jonas Hector - the Germany leftback who Jurgen Klopp is particularly keen on.
Could this lead to the end of Alberto Moreno at Anfield?

PROFILE: Who is Liverpool target Yacine Brahimi?
Yacine Brahimi’s name reappeared in the summer transfer frame this week.
According to reports in Portugal, the Porto winger is attracting interest from a number of top European sides. Liverpool are among the clubs said to have made an approach for the Algerian.
We get the lowdown on him from Tom Kundert of the excellent PortuGOAL site :
When Spanish coach Julen Lopetegui was appointed FC Porto coach in the summer of 2014. it led to an influx of big names from La Liga.
Barcelona’s Cristian Tello and Atletico Madrid’s Oliver Torres were the headline names, but another Spanish-based player, Brahimi , outshone them all.
The Algerian settled immediately and was exceptional in his first six months at the Portuguese club, but perhaps Brahimi’s mesmerising dribbling skills should not have taken people by surprise. In his final season in La Liga before switching to Porto he finished top of the “successful dribbles” statistics chart in Spain, ahead of Lionel Messi (164 to 143).
He immediately became Porto’s key creator, providing plentiful assists and scoring freely, as his tight control, jinking movements and lightning shifting of the ball into space saw him dazzle, both in Portugal and beyond.
