Gunmen abducts APC chairman, secretary in Kwara state

 – Reports emerging from Ilorin, the capital of Kwara state have it that the chairman of the ruling party in Kwara state, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon Ishola Balogun Fulani and his secretary, Chief Bode Adekanye have both been abducted by gunmen

– The APC chairman and the party’s scribe were kidnapped around the Lokoja-Okene highway in Kogi state

– The ugly incident occurred today, Friday, May 12 at gun point

Vanguard learnt that the abduction of the ruling party’s stalwarts in Kwara state has brought chaos into the state and thrown the Kwara state government and the APC in the state into confusion, as government officials and party members, were seen gathered in different groups talking about the sad event.

The activities of abductors have not gone down as a former minister of education was abducted by armed men alongside her security aide along Igbogila road in the evening on Wednesday, April 27.

Alhaji Sulyman Buhari, the spokesperson of the APC in Kwara state confirmed the sad occurrence, while fielding questions from newsmen on the night of Friday, May 20.

He said the abduction happened about 10 o’clock in the morning of Friday, May 20 when the APC Kwara state chairman and his secretary were coming back to Ilorin from Abuja, the nation’s federal capital.

Buhari stated: “We received a call from the line of the chairman around this time, (10am) telling us of the kidnapping issue. No ransom was mentioned and all attempts to make further enquiries from them proved abortive as the line was no longer available.

“We are on it to see if we can still establish a link with them. We have taken all the necessary steps and linked up with relevant security operatives to ensure their safety and eventual release.”

In other reports emerging in the early hours of Friday, May 20 learnt that, the APC seems to be facing some internal wranglings, as Senator Shehu Sani reacted to the threat by the Kaduna state chapter of the APC to expel him from the party.
