It makes watching this Euro 2016 TV show really engaging, even if you don’t like football or know any French.
This video of a presenter going into a television screen for a pitch-side interview went viral on Sunday.

That’s Nathalie Renoux in a studio in Paris walking into a television to speak to Carine Galli, who is on the sidelines in Nice.

A representative for M6, the channel that broadcasts the show, confirmed to BuzzFeed News that Galli is on the pitch with the players. The studio presenter is merely standing in front of a green screen.
The spokesperson said: “The main idea was to be focused on the immersion of our audience in the Euro 2016 event. In simple words, we would like to be really close to the fields and the venues wherever you were watching the game.”
It gets even weirder when both of them are holding umbrellas because it’s raining at the stadium.

This is not the only trick the show has come up with.
This “hologram” effect was achieved by having the interviewee sit in front of a green screen in a separate studio at the stadium.

“These sequences are shot on a green set and the cameras (on the set and at the venue) are calibrated exactly with the same distance of shooting and the same lens focus,” explained the M6 spokesperson.
“One of the main issues was to consider it all as a real-time sequence with no delay, to have the perfect chat between people in the venue and on our set in Paris. After checking the transmission solutions between these two points and some testing sessions, it was [ready] to be implemented live.”
