Two of music’s top divas have taken to Twitter
to share their feelings and there seems to be bad blood between them.
Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj have everyone
talking about their tweets, exchanged hours ago and in the she said-she said,
it appears Minaj took a shot at Swift, who was to no surprise, nominated for an
MTV Music Award that Minaj was not. While the two are both up for the Best
Female Video, only Swift is up for Best Video of the Year.
“If your video celebrates women with very slim
bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year,” tweeted Minaj after the
nominations were released. Wasting no time, Swift returned with, “I’ve
done nothing but love & support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against
each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot.”
But was Minaj really speaking to Swift with
Beyonce also up for Best Video of the Year, a woman who is by no means “very
slim,” and on the contrary is quite voluptuous. “Huh? U must not be
reading my tweets. Didn’t say a word about u. I love u just as much. But u
should speak on this,” she tweeted back to Swift.
PEOPLE magazine seemed to read into the tweet,
saying “Swift and Katy Perry have long been rumored to have feuded over the
years, with many speculating that her recent hit ‘Bad Blood’ was about the
feud.” Making sure she avoided any more bad blood, Swift swiftly returned
Minaj’s loving sentiment with, “If I win, please come up with me!! You’re
invited to any stage I’m ever on.”
The two celebs are not the first to take to Twitter
to express their feelings. Some other notable Twitter wars between Tinsel Town
stars are Rihanna and Amanda Bynes. Not only did Bynes start an “unwarranted
attack on pop star Rihanna and Chrissy Teigen of Sports Illustrated fame, calling both stars ugly,” reports
Mashable, but she continued her aesthetic put downs by calling Perez Hilton
ugly and “eventually, Bynes insisted Hilton commit suicide. No stranger to
death threats, Hilton expressed his concern for Bynes and his hope that she
receive treatment.”
And it doesn’t stop there. There was the
Ariana Grande against Bette Midler, Iggy Azalea verses Snoop Dog, Kanye West
takes on Jimmy Kimmel, Kim Kardashian-West dissing Adrienne Bailon, Miley Cyrus
counters Katy Perry and back to Rihanna verses Ciara.
“The two pop stars
made their feud public when they began subtweeting one another, first with
Rihanna saying, “my bad ci, did i 4get to tip u #howrudeofme.” Ciara then
warned that Rihanna doesn’t “want to see [her] on or off the stage,” reports
Teen.com. Rihanna slid in one last insult about Ciara not being able to
book any stage at all, before the two made up… also on Twitter.”
Though Swift and Minaj seemed to kiss and make
up, the true test will come at the MTV Music Awards, surely an event not to be
